Amy Rushlow May 24, 2006 Chicago Athlete
Track racing season in Chicago begins Thursday, May 25, at the Ed
Rudolph Northbrook Velodrome's opening night. For those unfamiliar with track racing, the sport is a fast-paced whirl
around a soft-banked track where racers ride brakeless bikes at speeds
up to 40 mph. The races are free to spectators and begin at 7 p.m. If you're looking to race, show up at 6 p.m. for registration. There is no
race fee, however all riders must purchase the $30 season packet,
which includes bib numbers and ROTY/TOTY entry. All riders earn
double ROTY points on opening night! Click
here for more information and directions.
